Newbean Guide - For the Pink Bean Newbies!

image

So, If you’ve joined back into the game after a pretty long hiatus and decided to give the Pink Bean class a try, here’s a small quick guide for the Pink Bean newbie – the glorious Newbean Guide!

  Before We Begin

Before you begin, if you’ve just come back to the game, you may want to head over to the Passport page and update whatever necessary information that needs to be updated (email, password resets etc). You may be required to submit in an iBox ticket if you wish to make a change of your email.

If you have yet to download the game, you can do so by clicking here.

  Starting Out with Pink Bean

Once all that is settled, its time to create your Pink Bean! If you do not have an empty character slot, simply expand it via the Cash Shop (“Game” Category > “More Slots” sub-category). There’s no extra charges to increase your character slots, so just expand away! (The maximum number of character slots available in one Maple ID is 40.)

So to start things off, the Pink Bean class is a pretty self sufficient and self-reliant class. Whether you’re a green newbie or an old veteran you both will start almost on the same ground. (We say almost because Pink Bean could still benefit from bonuses such as Linked Skills and Character Card Decks). Aside from that, there are some restrictions to take note of when playing the Pink Bean class, as the character is just visiting Maple World for a temporary period of time.

Some key things that you cannot do/interact while playing the Pink Bean class:

• Trade (this includes picking up dropped items)
• Visit the Cash Shop
• Use Item Storage
• Visit the Star Planet
• Creating or advancing to a leadership position (Master/Jr. Master) in a Guild

You can still perform some basic things such as buying/selling through the NPC vendors and merchants, partying up with players as well as adding other Newbeans into your buddy list (default key: R).

  Making Friends

With the Buddy System available, why not take this opportunity to forge new friendships?

For those of you who have just returned to the game from a long hiatus, the buddy list can now add your friends on an Account Level. Remember you had like 10+ characters in your buddy list that belonged to just that 1 friend? With the Account level management, it allows you to simply add an IGN and it will automatically detect all the other IGNs that belong to that same friend of yours! You may however, still need to manually delete the previously registered IGNs of your buddy that were within the same account if you wish to make more room to add more buddies.

So, now that you’re abit more clear on the revamped Buddy System, you can head over to Henesys town (that’s where you start anyway) Channel 1,because this is where the majority of Players like to hangout to chat and chill. Move towards somewhere around the left side of the town, and start making new friends!

Don’t forget that there’s other people who’d also want to make friends, so keep an eye out for them as well!

  Leveling Up

Now, let’s talk about leveling up. If you’ve been playing recently for a while, you can of course go straight out and grind at your favourite spots with your new friends (or solo, but that’s not as fun!). Try to party up and level together with other Newbeans, because Pink Beans gain party EXP bonuses when grouped with other Pink Beans (yeay!). This effect does not work if you’re partied with other non-Pink Bean classes (boo!).

Alternatively, you can use the Maple Guide System (default key: U) and level at the recommended spots if you have no idea on where to head to!

  Upgrading Equipment

Last but not least, its time to talk about gearing up. This is a pretty important aspect aside from leveling up when playing the Pink Bean class, because better equipment = better damage output.

So when you’re out there hunting, lookout for equipment upgrades for your Pink Bean. Keep this in mind that Pink Bean classes can only equip whatever Male Explorer warriors can, so anything else should be sold away for mesos so that you can buy potions and other necessities.

As mentioned earlier, items dropped by other players cannot be looted by you. Items dropped by monsters however, can be looted and this will be your main source of income and character progression in-game.

For usable equipment that you have obtained, you may also want to consider upgrading them – via the Equipment Enhancement system (default key: O). This is also a new system introduced to help players with a convenient method of upgrading of their equipment. No more hassles of trying to find the specific scrolls, as most of them are made readily available from within the system. All you need to do, is gather Spell Trace pieces, which can be obtained from hunting monsters, or purchasing them via NPC Nadia in towns.

Spell Traces take the place of upgrading scrolls, and the amount you need for each upgrade differs, depending on the type of upgrade scroll as well as the level of the equipment.

Once you’ve finished using up all the upgrade slots of the equipment, its time to proceed on to the secondary level of enhancement – Star Force. Using mesos and luck, you can further upgrade to achieve more stats out of your equipment. Using the same Equipment Enhancement system.

Simply place the upgraded equipment into the UI, and it should automatically trigger the Star Force enhancement ability. Take note of the passing rates and chances before you attempt, as the system may actually end up destroying your equipment instead of enhancing it (don’t panic, this only happens at the really higher levels of the enhancement).

There’s more ways to improve your equipment such as using Resurrection Flames to reconfigure your additional stat bonuses and Cubes to reconfigure your item potential, but for now these 2 methods alone are sufficient enough to help you get through with leveling up.

Well, I guess that’s that for the Newbean guide, so we hope that you’ll explore the vast Maple World with your friends and gain many levels from your adventures!
