After centuries of being trapped under the ice from the Black Mage’s curse, Aran awakens in Rien and meets Lirin. With Lirin’s help, Aran slowly regains all her long-forgotten memories and powers.

During the Black Heaven saga, Lirin was captured by Damien’s dark legion. Aran makes her way to the Slumbering Dragon Island to save Lirin.

Tainted by the Black Mage’s dark power during the sealing centuries ago , Luminous had to make a choice between light and darkness. He wakes up after the curse has passed and finds himself in Ellinia. Having fatally injuring his only friend Lania, it was then that Luminous discovered that the darkness was gaining control and realized that his power of light and darkness was in a state of imbalance.

Luminous was visited by Evan who invited him to rejoin the heroes in their next conquest, but he refused as he did not think that Evan was as great as Freud. Eventually, Lania managed to convince him to go with Evan.

Waking up from the Black Mage’s curse, Mercedes was dismayed to find out that not all of the citizens of Elluel have been freed from their ice encasement. Mercedes was reminded of Freud and Afrien through Evan and Mir. Although she still had regrets about the decision she made centuries ago, she agreed to join Evan in the battle ahead.

Before the Black Mage’s curse, Phantom was an infamous name among the wealthy merchants and noblemen of Maple World. He deliberately left traces when stealing, and even then, people did not know his identity. They called him, “Phantom”.

He had joined the Heroes to take revenge on the Black Mage for the death of Empress Aria.

Eunwol’s existence were erased from everyone’s memories after he had sacrificed himself for the sealing of the Black Mage. Centuries later, he woke up in Vulpes with his own memories fully intact.

Having befriended Aran once again during Black Heaven, they set out to Slumbering Dragon Island to rescue Lirin. They met Evan while on the island and joins him.

Lirin is the last member of a clan who believed in the prophecy –the return of the Heroes- which they have received long ago. She helps Aran retrieve her past, and prevents the impending reawakening of the Black Mage. In an unfortunate event, Lirin is kidnapped by Damien’s army while Aran was away for the Black Heaven mission.

Having escaped from the Black Mage when he tried to rob her of her powers, she was trapped in the Root Abyss by Damien’s generals. The Alliance saved her and brought her to Ereve, where she disappears into Shinsoo’s crown jewel.

Freud had a vision of the impending threat that was to come in the future, “When the battle of the end approaches, the wolf that is released from its shackles will devour the World Tree.”

It is up to Freud’s friends and his successor to save the future.

Regarded as the Black Mage’s right-hand man, Arkarium was the one responsible for killing Demon’s family and burning his hometown to the ground. He recruited the half-human/demon boy, Damien, who was thought to have died in the attack on Demon’s hometown.

A master manipulator, Arkarium uses Damien to take on his mission on the World Tree, and later on double-crossing him.

Weakened from the Black Mage’s attempts to sever the Spirit Pact bond between Freud and himself, Afrien appears in Evan’s dream explaining that Evan has to continue Freud’s efforts and that Evan has a pact with him and Freud.

He waits at Slumbering Dragon Island for the Heroes to return.

Once, there was a great Dragon egg hidden away, waiting for a hero with a strong spirit who would be able to recreate the Spirit Pact that existed between Afrien, the King of the Onyx Dragons, and Freud, the great Magician.
